Features of the Game

Quick to learn, difficult to master

Guild Chronicles features simple, elegant rules that are easy to understand; the complexity of the game increases as play progresses and new synergies and combinations emerge.

Flexible character design

Character creation features branching advancement, not linear, allowing players to create truly unique builds and archetype-breaking characters.

Limits frustrating results from bad luck

Without rolls “to hit” and by always utilizing small pools of dice, “botches” are uncommon, limiting player frustration or the feeling that bad luck dramatically altered the outcome of an adventure.

Collaboration is rewarded

At the center of the design principles of Guild Chronicles is the idea that the game’s rules should reward collaboration; groups that focus on enabling one another will outshine more individualistic playstyles.

Nothing About Us Without Us

The core of the Guild Chronicles philosophy is central to the disability rights movement: “nothing about us without us”.

The Guild Chronicles Education Program works primarily with autistic teens and adults (and individuals with similar learning styles), and we believe that this community should be integral in the development of the program.  To that end, we aspire to hire autistic and other neurodivergent young people to edit, playtest, illustrate, and grow the world of Guild Chronicles. Their creativity, enthusiasm, feedback and insights have been immeasurably supportive of the program’s development and they will continue to be core to its future.
